Can Spine Surgery Cure Spinal Stenosis? Managing Expectations

It is a common question asked by patients hoping for a permanent fix: "If I get this surgery, will I be completely cured forever?" The desire for a permanent solution is completely understandable, especially after living with chronic nerve pain.

However, it is important to have realistic, medically accurate expectations. Spinal stenosis is a byproduct of the natural aging process—ligaments thicken, discs bulge, and bone spurs form as we get older. Surgery addresses the immediate crisis, but it does not stop the clock.

Spinal decompression surgery has a remarkably high success rate for relieving radiating leg pain and nerve pressure, but it does not "cure" the natural aging and degenerative process of the spine. A LESS™ invasive approach ensures you don't accelerate that aging process with fusion hardware.

What Surgery Can and Cannot Do
